On the 9th Day of Christmas ...

... this blogger gave to thee ...
... nine ceramic sculptures ...
... eight film night picks ...
... seven shoes to choose from ...
... six party frocks ...
... five gold rings! ...
... four private spaces ...
... three things unfired ...
... two little birds ...
... and a corner shop made of felt.

It's day ten, and today I'd like to introduce you to the wonderful work of ceramicist, Katharine Morling who found a love for ceramics whilst on the way to psychology lessons. I know that feeling well.

Morling's ceramics are beautifully endearing and almost comical in their design. They are three-dimensional sketches of every day objects and curiosities, placed together like carefully chosen parts of much larger collection, entirely made of porcelain.

Morling's ceramics may be based on inanimate objects, but each tells a story of compulsive collecting and the mundane items we all have nearby on a daily basis, on desks, in pen pots and hidden in drawers. Art out of things which are often overlooked.

I'm a bit of a hoarder. Things like that appeal.
