Dulux Colour of the Year 2015: Copper Blush II

WARNING: MAY CONTAIN METALLICS

Dulux Colour of the Year is Copper Blush... did you expect anything less than copper overload?

Especially coming from a (failed) jeweller? You're really lucky I didn't just put up a picture of a sheet of copper and some wire! That would have done me, but instead I've ended up with fifteen Copper Blush items I would not be unhappy with. Then again, a reel of thick electrical cable to strip down into huge coils of lovely new copper wire would make me happy too, especially as I used the last/most of my old one making crocheted flowers.

As I said in my last post, I actually think that this is a great colour for fashion and objects, it's got a really great rose gold quality to it and skirts between really quite an orange copper, right back to being very pink in hue.

Plus, nude colours have been big the last few years, so, let's face it, this is just another nude to add to your palette.

But alas, I don't think Copper Blush is my colour, too pale for me. I can wear bright yellow, bright red, bright pink or greens and feel no dent in my, albeit tiny amount of confidence, but put me in white or a nude colour and I feel really self concious.

Bar, when my hair went that peachy colour when it was bleached and the pink was all but gone, I loved that. And I would very much like those headphones, so when I'm drinking my favourite cocktail, the Moscow Mule*, in a copper mug, I can listen to some good music and quietly get drunk in my own little world**.

Unexpectedly good colour choice Dulux!
.

* If you fancy a Moscow Mule, mix two shots of vodka with the juice of half a lime and your favourite ginger beer to taste. Serve in a copper mug if you can, but if not, just over lots of ice. Plus, if you're feeling fancy, add some raspberries for a Raspberry Moscow Mule, which is the drink I had when I got my degree results in the beer garden of one of the uni locals.

** Yep, drinking alone is kinda the mood I'm feeling for today.

Pantone Colour of the Year: Emerald

So for the Monday Moodboard last week - which returned after a long absence -  not only do you get some lovely shade related photos but this week you get thirteen emerald(ish) coloured treats for 2013's colour.

Again, I don't think Pantone could have picked a nicer colour and everything on this, I genuinely like and would like in my life...at least the few I could afford.

1) Ciate Creme Nail Polish in Ditch The Heels | Link
2) Faceted Wooden Earrings in Turquoise by Anthe-Stolz from DaWanda | Link
3) Andy Spectacles from Selima Optique | Link
4) Zoya Nail Polish in Ivanka | Link
5) Gosh Velvet Touch Eyeliner in Woody Green - this is one of my favourite eyeliners, they're really soft and easy to apply, they're also packed with pigment and last ages! Only downside is they slide a bit, so use a primer! | Image Link
6) Emerald Christian Louboutin Pumps via Pinterest | Link
7) Vintage Clock London Emerald Green via Design Atelier Article (Etsy) | Link
8) Moleskin Notebook in Oxide Green - Pantone do do a specifically Emerald notepad, but I'm sorry, a moleskin just can't be beat! | Link
9) Alexander McQueen Flower Lace Strapless in Green (Emerald) via Lyst | Link
10) Green Polka Dot Scarf from Wanelo | Link
11) Barry M Dazzle Dust in 73 Emerald - this was the first eyeshadow I bought when I left school and broke away from my 'safe Emily' makeup. The blue mascara years may have been a mistake but the pink hair never will be. Barry M Dazzle Dusts have been a staple of my makeup bag since then, they're very highly pigmented and worth the money...unless they explode in your bag and go over your brand new bright yellow sneakers! Grrr... | ImageLink
12) Jasper Conran  for Wedgwood Chinoiserie Green Teacup from John Lewis | Image | Link
13) Vintage Emerald Earrings (14kt Yellow Gold and White Gold) from Cynthia Findlay Antiques | Image | Link

I could so easily go full out green from that list and I just hope that the fashion world picks up on Pantone's prediction, as Emerald really is a beautiful jewel tone and I'm bored of muted colours and neons. Plus I'd really quite like a pair of crystal green glasses. My glasses at the moment are crystal grey and the pair I'm looking at at work are crystal purple. I always seem to be drawn to the crystal frames (i.e. translucent plastic) and I have no idea why!

Anyway, hope you enjoy the list and I will type up my window posts now that my latest window is in and I've taken some photos. For now, on my day off, I have some work work to do and a cardigan to search for because I don't know where you are, but it's cold, windy and trying to snow here at the moment. So a nice day all round.

Little Boxes | Ticky Tacky

I havent posted anything of my own for a while. Mostly because there's been a lack of anything to actually post. There's a couple of other pieces from this series, but they're not completely finished. I've been stuck with them, so maybe I'll post them another day.

These earrings however, were part of the Christmas gifts for the girls at work, thankfully, both liked them. They're are made of silver, ophthalmic lenses and Amazakoue. Amazakoue being a gorgeous hardwood which I used for one of my degree show chess sets and have had so many chunks lying around the workshop. I keep battering myself with them - as well as branches of thorny rose wood, maple, buddleia, rosemary, lilac, elm, cherry and pine from the garden, which I've been seasoning for the past year and a half. They should be good to use now I think.

Have been having a bad day today. Which is annoying as I'd been feeling better about things lately.I feel like the herbal concoction has been helping and I've been thinking about getting back in touch with friends, thinking about designs, thinking about ordering some silver, thinking about going sorting out the workshop...I couldn't get to sleep two nights ago thinking about a design, but today all I want to do is stay in bed and either have a cry or go back to sleep. I'm not even feeling very bloggy, but I'm pushing myself to try and post more frequently and I've been meaning to post these earrings since Christmas.

Anyway, think it's time for bed. Sleep tight.
